How voting works on Kallitone
Kallitone ranks music through blind, human-powered comparisons — no algorithms,
no follower counts, no marketing budgets. Here is exactly how it works.
How a voting match works
- Each sample starts from a random point in the track. This prevents intros from receiving an unfair advantage.
- In All Tags mode, tracks can come from anywhere on Kallitone.
- When you select one tag, both tracks are chosen from that tag.
- Each match pairs two random tracks from your selected voting pool.
- Pairings are randomized, while tracks with fewer matches are prioritized. This helps new music receive enough votes to be evaluated.
- Matches are not personalized using your listening history.
- Track identities remain hidden while you vote.
- Likes, comments and follower counts never influence the voting screen.
- Voted track information is revealed after the match in enjoyer voted tracks.
- Listen to both samples to unlock voting.
- You cannot cast an instant vote without hearing both tracks.
- After a sample ends, you can listen to the full track before deciding.
- Listening to the full track is optional.
- Your vote directly compares the two tracks in the match.
- You can skip a match without affecting either track’s score.
- Skipping before both samples are heard costs KLT.
How tracks are ranked (Elo)
- Every valid vote updates the Elo rating of both tracks.
- The winning track gains rating, while the other track loses rating.
- Beating a higher-rated track produces a larger rating gain.
- Expected results produce smaller rating changes.
- New tracks begin with the same baseline Elo rating.
- Rankings become more reliable as more matches are completed.
- Tracks with fewer matches are shown more often.
- Tracks are compared inside the tags that describe them.
- Higher-ranked tracks receive more visibility on Kallitone.
- The top represent the strongest community-ranked music in that tag.
What your vote actually does
- Your vote affects discovery, not just a like counter.
- You are judging the music, not the artist’s popularity.
- Streams, followers and marketing budgets do not decide the winner.
- Human comparisons determine which tracks rise.
- Every vote helps unknown music find an audience.
- Your vote helps real music break through.
How voting rewards work (KLT)
- Every completed vote adds KLT to your session rewards.
- Rewards are issued for valid comparisons, not skipped matches.
- Your session total updates after every vote.
- Voting rewards come from the community reward pool.
- KLT spent on early skips returns to the voting reward pool.
- The pool grows whenever music is streamed on Kallitone.
- A share of every KLT spent on listening is added to the Voting Pool.
- KLT earned through voting can later be used to listen to music.
- When rewarded KLT is spent on listening, part of it returns to the Voting Pool. This creates a cycle between listening, voting/discovery.
- The reward per vote changes with the size of the Voting Pool. A larger pool allows the system to offer higher voting rewards. When the pool becomes smaller, rewards are automatically reduced.
- This dynamic reward protects the pool from being depleted. The current reward is shown before you cast your vote.
- Every valid vote receives the same displayed reward for that match.
- Skipping before hearing both samples costs KLT.
- A skipped match never changes the Elo rating of either track.
- Listening adds KLT to the Voting Pool. Voting removes KLT from the pool as rewards. Early skips return KLT to the pool.
- KLT earned from voting can be spent on listening, helping fund future rewards.
- KLT represents the minute of music that you can listen to.
- Value of KLT outside of Kallitone is determined by the subscribers.
